We at Chosen People Ministries respect your right to privacy and your right to view and update the personal information which we hold about you. We are committed to protecting your privacy when you visit our site.

From time to time, we may update this privacy policy. We encourage you to periodically review this page for any material changes.

What information do we collect? 

We collect information from you when you register on our site or join a mailing list.

When registering on our site you may be asked to provide:

  • Profile photo
  • Photos and description of your home
  • Name
  • Email address
  • Physical address
  • Phone number
  • Name, phone number, and email address of your spiritual leader
  • Name, phone number, and email address of your spouse
  • Name, phone number, and email address of a personal reference

How do we use your information?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To process your host application
  • To contact the references you provided
  • To make your host profile viewable to travelers on the Planet Zula mobile application whenever you list it as active
  • To enable us to communicate with you about Host Israelis and other ministry opportunities
  • To improve the operations of our website/app to make your experience more enjoyable
  • To allow us to improve our tools, troubleshoot, and maintain our system

Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other organization for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the service requested and as described in the “Do we disclose any information to outside parties?” section below.

The email address you provide may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to hosting, in addition to receiving occasional ministry news, updates, related product or service information, etc.

Do we use cookies? 

Yes. A cookie is a small piece of data that a website asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information. We use cookies to help us remember and process the information in your hosting account.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties? 

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise, transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

How long do we keep your data?

We retain your data for as long as you have an account. When you close an account, we will delete its content.

If we receive legal process pertaining to your account, we will retain your data for as long as we in good faith believe is necessary to comply with the legal process. Similarly, if we believe that your account has been involved in wrongdoing, we may preserve your data to defend or assert our rights.

California Users

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents have the right to opt out of disclosing information to third parties for the purpose of allowing such third parties to directly market their products and services. At this time, we do not engage in this type of disclosure.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), California consumers have the following rights, which can be exercised directly or in certain cases, through an authorized agent:

Right to Know. You have the right to request information about the categories and sources of personal information we collect, our purposes for collecting the information, and the types of third parties that receive that information. In addition, you have the right to request a copy of your personal information. Please use the information at the bottom of this document to contact us.

Right to Delete. You have the right to request that we delete some or all of the personal information that we have about you. Deleting all data will typically require the deletion of your account, along with all content, including your videos. Notwithstanding the foregoing, we may retain information to comply with our legal obligations, cooperate with law enforcement, and to exercise and defend our rights.

Do Not Sell. You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information, and to request information about whether we have sold your personal information in the past 12 months. Don’t worry, we will not sell your information!

Non-Discrimination. We won’t discriminate against you because you exercise any rights herein.

To exercise your rights to know and delete, we must be able to verify your identity. We may not be able to fulfill your request until we can do so. In general, we verify identity by confirming that you are the owner of the email address associated with the account. An authorized agent submitting a request on your behalf must also have access to the email address associated with the account, along with sufficient evidence that you have authorized that person to submit the request on your behalf.

Nevada Users

Nevada residents have the right to opt out of the sale of certain “covered information” collected by operators of websites or online services. We currently do not sell covered information, as “sale” is defined by such law, and we will not sell your information.

GDPR (EEA and UK Users)

This section applies only to natural persons residing in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom (for the purpose of this section only, “you” or “your” shall be limited accordingly). It is our policy to comply with the EEA’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In accordance with the GDPR, we may transfer your personal information from your home country to the U.S. (or other countries) based upon the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate business interests: We could not provide our services or comply with our legal obligations without transferring your personal information to the U.S.
  • Our use of Standard Contractual Clauses (also known as “Model Clauses”) where appropriate.

You have the right to: opt out of non-essential cookies (see our Cookie Policy); access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your personal information; be forgotten; port your data; and withdraw consents. We fulfill our obligations in response to direct requests. We will endeavor to process requests within one month. Please note that we may not be able to comply with requests to the extent that they would cause us to violate any law or infringe on any other person’s rights. We reserve the right to request appropriate identification. We will process requests free of charge unless they would impose an unreasonable cost on us.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory data protection authority of your jurisdiction.

What rights do you have over your data? 

If you have any questions or want to know which personal data we have about you, please contact us. Please make sure to always clearly state who you are, so that we can be certain that we do not modify or delete any data of the wrong person. We shall provide the requested information only upon receipt of a verifiable request.

  • You may submit a request for access to the data we process about you.
  • You may object to the processing.
  • You may request an overview, in a commonly used format, of the data we process about you.
  • You may request correction or deletion of the data if it is incorrect or not or no longer relevant, or to ask to restrict the processing of the data.
  • You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act compliance 

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act); we do not collect any information from anyone under 16 years of age. Our website, products, and services are all directed to people who are at least 16 years old or older.
